Validating an AI Email Agent built with n8n, would this be useful?
redditby WadieSnap20161 week ago1 points

Hi everyone, I’m exploring an idea for an AI-powered email automation system built with n8n, and I’d really appreciate feedback from people who already run production workflows. The concept is an AI email agent that manages an inbox like a digital assistant: automatically reading new emails, filtering promotional messages, labeling and categorizing them, and determining importance based on keywords, sender priority, and predefined rules. The system would also draft AI responses using a document knowledge base (company info, FAQs, instructions) while allowing humans to review or edit drafts before sending. It could integrate with a CRM to pull contact history for better context, notify teams when important emails arrive or when specific keywords/priority senders appear, and provide daily productivity tools like email summaries, scheduled sends, and even newsletter generation from curated content. I’m also considering a dashboard that shows incoming emails with labels, AI-generated drafts (sendable in one click), important notifications, and daily summaries. What I’m trying to validate is whether something like this already exists in the n8n ecosystem, whether there are technical limitations that could make it unreliable, whether it could realistically scale with providers like Gmail or Outlook, and whether businesses would actually find it valuable. If you’ve built email agents, inbox automation, or AI response systems with n8n, I’d love to hear about your lessons learned, reliability challenges, and what tends to break in real-world use. Thanks in advance for any insights.
